· Height = v (length of sling)2_ 50% of Distance between two hooks
· T= (Wx L)/ (height x No of sling)
· Angle of sling- sin-1 H/L.
· utilization of sling: - Capacity of sling- tension on sling/Capacity of sling X100.
· % OF Crane capacity utilization total weight of material /crane load chart capacity x 100.
· Factor of safety = crane load chart capacity/ total weight of material x 100.
· SWL of sling Dx8/625.
LIFTING PLAN ANALYSIS
- CRANE CONFIGURATION:
- FULL COUNTERWEIGHT.
- OUTRIGGER FULLY / PARTIALLY EXTENDED .
- MAIN HOOK / AUXILIARY HOOK.
- LINE PULL CAPACITY AND MINIMUM NUMBER OF FALLS REQUIRED.
- LOAD BLOCK / HOOK BLOCK CAPACITY.
- RADIUS, BOOM LENGTH AND BOOM ANGLE RANGE.
- TOTAL WEIGHT = HOOK BLOCK WEIGHT + LIFTING GEARS WEIGHT + LOAD WEIGHT.
- CRANE LOAD CHART CAPACITY.
PERCENTAGE OF CRANE UTILIZATION:
TOTAL WEIGHT / CRANE LOAD CHART CAPACITY.
FACTOR OF SAFETY (FOS):

CRITICAL LIFT AUTHORIZATION IS REQUIRED = > 80 % TO 85 %

LIFTING ACTIVITY .
1) BEFORE THE LIFTING ACTIVITY STARTS AT SITE THE RIGGING SUPERVISOR HAS TO GIVE THE SAFETY TOOL BOX TALK (TBT) TO THE LIFTING CREW.
2) THE LOAD HAS TO BE RIGGED WITH APPROPRIATE LIFTING GEARS.
3) THE RIGGING SUPERVISOR HAS TO CHECK AGAIN FOR THE LOAD BALANCE AND IT SHOULD BE FREE FROM ANY ATTACHMENTS.
4) THE RIGGING SUPERVISOR HAS TO ENSURE THAT WHETHER ANY OBSTRUCTIONS OR POTENTIAL HAZARDS ARE PRESENT IN THE LOAD TRAVELLING PATH.
5) PLACE THE CRANE HOOK ABOVE THE LOAD COG AND CONNECT THE SLINGS WITH THE CRANE HOOK.
6) CONNECT THE TAG LINES TO THE LOAD IN A REQUIRED LENGTH AND IN A CORRECT LOCATION OF THE LOAD.
7) BEFORE SIGNAL TO THE CRANE OPERATOR, CHECK WHETHER THE LIFTING GEARS ARE PROPERLY SEATED AND ALL THE RIGGERS ARE OUT OF THE LOAD.
8) EVACUTE ALL OTHER PEOPLE OUT OF THE CRANE WORKING RADIUS EXCEPT THE AUTHORIZED PEOPLE.
9) WARN ALL THE NEARBY PEOPLE THOSE WHO ARE WORKING NEAR TO THE LIFTING ACTIVITY AREA.
10) IF THERE IS ANY HUTS/CONTAINERS/SHELTERS WITH THE PEOPLE OCCUPIED, EVACUTE THEM BEFORE COMMENCE THE LIFTING ACTIVITY.
11) LIFT THE LOAD TO ONE FOOT HEIGHT AND CHECK FOR THE LOAD BALANCE, WHETHER THE LOAD IS BALANCED AND SECURED WELL WITH SLINGS TIGHTLY, THEN GIVE SIGNAL TO THE CRANE OPERATOR FOR THE SLOW LIFT AND SWING MOVEMENTS.
12) ONCE THE LOAD IS ERECTED / RESTED, CHECK WITH MECHANICAL TEAM FOR THE LOAD STABILITY AND THEN SIGNAL THE CRANE TO HOIST DOWN. THEREAFTER, REMOVE THE LIFTING GEARS.
LOADING & UNLOADING BY HYDRA.
1) CHECK WITH THE HYDRA OPERATOR FOR THE CAPACITY.
2) USE HAND TO SIGNAL THE HYDRA FOR THE HOIST / BOOM UP AND DOWN.
3) GIVE HAND SIGNAL FROM THE SIDE OF THE HYDRA.
4) FLAGS ARE USED ONLY FOR THE ESCORT OF THE VEHICLE.
5) BARRICADE THE WORKING AREA.
6) ENSURE THE LIFTING GEARS ARE IN GOOD CONDITIONS.
7) 80 % OF THE HYDA CAPACITY ONLY USED FOR LIFTING.
8) 60 % OF THE HYDRA CAPACITY ONLY USED FOR MARCHING WITH THE LOAD.
9) CHECK WHETHER THE HYDRA TYRES ARE HAVING THE CORRECT AIR PRESSURE.
10) ENSURE ALL THE SAFETY DEVICES ARE WORKING IN GOOD CONDITIONS.
11) ENSURE THE ROAD SURFACE IS LEVEL. IF NOT, PROCEED WITH VERY SLOW SPEED .
12) WHEN MARCHING, LOADS ARE BALANCED WITH TWO TAG LINES.
